Why yes, I realize Halloween has barely ended, but I am already obnoxiously in the Christmas spirit. This surge of festiveness has been ushered right in with some major help from Target aka my second home. The store already has all their holiday items out and ready to purchase and this year’s collections have some great gems. While I usually go for a more classic, traditional green and red decorating scheme, I am loving the mix of glam gold and glass with rustic burlap and faux fur.
While normally I can be quite the homebody, this weekend I went out everyday and imbibed in a bit of debauchery (Halloween will do that to you). While this was great for my frequently dull social life, it was not so great on my body. I don’t drink often, so when I do, boy, does my body disapprove. I don’t get sick per se, but I always end up feeling gross, tired and bloated. To perk myself up and get back into healthy mode, I like to whip up this quick detox smoothie.
This weekend, J. Crew Factory is offering 30% off all items on the site, and there are so many chic steals. Factory is already much more affordable than it’s muy expensivo sibling, regular J. Crew, so when they have a sale, you can really find great bargains. I love J. Crew, but don’t make that J. Crew money, so I am always on the hunt for some deals! This Sunday was all sorts of productive. Usually I can be a lazy slug and stay in bed all day, but today I woke up at 7:45 (who am I!?!?) and got the day going.
To prep for the week, I made these low-cal pumpkin muffins. I’m not sure of their origin, but I think they may be a Weight Watchers delicacy, and I adjusted to my taste. I am by no means a great baker – I can manage to destroy bake n break cookies – but these only involved FOUR ingredients and are impossible to eff up. Simply mix together a can of pumpkin, one cup of water, the box spice cake mix and a few shakes of pumpkin spice seasoning. Then bake to the instructions on the box mix. For me it was about 40 minutes at 350.
I’m always down for a no guilt way to incorporate pumpkin into my fall diet, especially without having to spring for a 4 dollar pumpkin spice latte every morning. These were so moist and flavorful and clock in at about 100 calories a muffin. Not a bad autumnal treat, if I do say so myself.
So. Confession. These beautiful blue ballet flats are not entirely a find of my own. I wish I could totally take credit for discovering these pretties, but in fact, I first spotted them on a colleague’s feet. Being somewhat of a ballet flat nut and not having any sort of social boundaries, I asked her immediately where she bought them so I could snatch a pair of my own. And, now, I am caught in a deep internal debate on the Zara checkout page.
I end up wearing a lot of neutrals (hello black, grey, white, etc), so these would add a nice pop of color to my monochromatic wardrobe.
While I adore them (I mean, electric blue + bows = come to mama), I’m still torn because of the price tag. They clock in at $90, and with shipping, will probably be right around $100. Granted, they are Zara, so they are decent quality, but it still seems a little pricey for shoes. What do you think? I couldn’t find anything comparable online, so I doubt I’ll find a cheaper copycat version (yes, I will continue to justify these to myself) Should I take the plunge? Let’s be honest, I probably will, but by all means, please help nudge me along.
