While the #NSale gets all the love, my old friends at Madewell are hosting a rival summer sale that quickly caught my attention in between catching up on Snapchat and mindlessly scrolling through Instagram this morning. The trendier/more hipster little sister of J. Crew, Madewell is one of my favorite retailers, but often just a bit too expensive for my budget. This weekend though, the fashion gods have smiled upon us and you can currently get any Madewell sale item with an additional 40% off with code EXTRA40 at checkout.

That effortless “oh I just arrived back from summering on the Mediterranean” look for less? Don’t mind if I do! Check out some of my top picks to finish your summer sartorially strong below! All of them are less than $100, and most are less than $50!

silk sandstar dress in vinefloral

Silk Dress in Vinefloral – light and airy and oh so pretty. A perfect summer dress and currently less than $40! This dress would be perfect for a day out shopping or date night. I may need this.

the amalfi tote bag

Amalfi Tote Bag – Available in this navy or a bright crimson. Love this tote for the beach or as a summer carry-on bag. Plus, that name means I’m automatically a fan!

embroidered gamine skirt

The Gamine Embroidered Skirt. Pair it with a white tee like on the model and you’ll have mastered bohemian, yet still put together style.

silk off the shoulder dress in palmflower

Silk Off the Shoulder Dress in Palmflower. Off the shoulder dresses are everywhere this season, so why not invest in one that’s high quality (all my Madwell products have lasted several years), silk – so super comfortable, stylish, and less than $100.

the renny tassel sandal

Renny Tassel Sandals – I highly recommend Madewell’s sandals for summer travel. I wore mine to death in both London and Italy, and they’re still chugging along. These are fashionable, classic and will hold up while your wanderlust takes over.

scatterblock tassel dress

Scatterblock Tassel Dress – What’s not to love about a dress with tassels? They just make me want to dance! The shift cut on this dress is so flattering and the length is work appropriate. If I can claim it as a work investment, that’s all the convincing I need to throw my money at it!

eyelet sunshower top

Eyelet Sunshower Top – A delicate summer top in classic white. I think this basic is well worth it’s less than $20 sale price.

silk petalplay romper

Silk Petal Play Romper – A gorgeous romper in a gorgeous cobalt blue. Like dresses, I love rompers because there’s no thought involved in getting dress – perfect for lazy girls like me. This would be cute at a bridal shower or for college girls going through rush.

Denim Piazza Skirt

Denim Piazza Skirt – I own this skirt and love it. My only regret is that I didn’t buy it when it was on sale! Feminine and loose, it’s the more girly and grown up version of the classic denim mini.

nightbreeze mini dress in stroke dash

Nightbreeze Mini Dress – I know, I know, yet another dress. Honestly, dresses are just so easy and chic for summer, so I couldn’t resist. Plus, I’m a huge fan of Madewell’s dresses, and jump at any chance to buy them at a steep discount. This gingham number is a little dressier and would be a lovely summer work dress.

Thank you for stopping by, amigas! Happy Saturday and happy sale hunting!

Look for Less: Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pumps

There’s something about the weekend that puts me in a bargain-hunting mood (check out my #Nsale travel picks here), so I thought I’d help keep the Sunday scaries at bay with a #shoeporn-worthy dupe.

nude gianvito rossi plexi pumps

Gianvito Rossi is a fairly new brand to me, but I’m a firm new fan after seeing these sexy plexi pumps. How cool is that transparent panel? I love how they take the classic pump and elevate them to a whole other level of edginess. Plus, I think they’d do wonder for elongating your legs just like little Miss Selena:

As I suspected, since these are red-carpet worthy, they also unfortunately have a red-carpet appropriate price tag – over $700! I mean, they’re gorgeous, but I feel like they’re a bit too trendy to justify an investment. But let’s get real, I just don’t have that money. However, my (imaginary) friends at Boohoo have done us all a service and made a pretty spot-on dupe for only $44.

Grab them here!

Asos also sells a similar version by Public Desire in khaki, if you’re looking for a more autumnal pair:

They’re also under $50, and you can purchase here.

I think these will become even more omnipresent with dupes come autumn, so snag them now before every fashionista is let in on the secret! Happy Sunday shopping! I’m currently catching up on YouTube videos and will be off to brunch soon and more blog post writing! I’m so determined to do at least 4 posts a week, so I need to get working away (but brunch comes first of course)! What are you up to this weekend?

#NSale Picks for the Traveler

If you’ve been hanging around the blogosphere the last few days, chances are you’ll have heard about the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (check out Caitlin’s thorough guide for all the details and tips). Early access has started (sign up for a Nordstrom debit card if you want to shop now but don’t want a credit card), and it opens to the general public on July 22.  Instead of doing your typical sale “picks” post like every other blogger out there, I thought I’d add a dose of wanderlust and share my picks – specifically for the chic traveler. Grab your weekender, toss on a jet-setting scarf and get ready to tuck into your neck pillow for your next stylish journey, all featuring my #NSale picks:

NSale Picks for the Traveler

#1 A perfect duffel bag for your next weekend getaway. All the motivation I need for a road trip!

#2 When I go on vacation, I can’t be bothered to pack my entire makeup kit. This NARS set has all the essentials to do a natural look with a pop of pink. With a deep holiday tan, who needs a full MAC force-field?

More beauty sets:

#3 A Longchamp Le Pliage is my all time favorite carry-on bag, since it’s roomy but can easily fold up and be stashed in your suitcase. Perfect for any souvenirs you’ve snagged on your trip. Longchamp has improved upon perfection and made an expandable version.

#4 A cozy scarf to add a pop of color and keep warm on chilly planes or serve as an impromptu picnic blanket along the Seine.

#5 While this is more of an investment piece (but still under $100), I think every girl needs a cashmere sweater to wear on the airplane. That recycled air at 30,000 feet is freezing, and this sweater is a touch of luxury that can make a long haul economy flight feel a little bit more like first class. Buy it in a neutral color, so you can wear it forever and with anything.

More coziness:

#6 Jeggings are awesome for travel days, whether it’s by plane, train or road trip. You get the comfort of leggings, while looking much more put together. What’s not to love? I’ve been trying not to look like such a slob at airports and instead find comfortable items that are still stylish and not basically pajamas.

#7 Any seasoned traveler needs a monogrammed and classic passport case and luggage tag. Timeless.

#8 I like sticking to a carry on bag when travelling, so I tend to pack wardrobe staples in neutral colors, so I can re-wear and mix and match throughout the trip. To keep outfits interesting and unique, however, I gravitate to stand-out accessories like this flat brim hat. Adds a bit of mystery, doesn’t it?

#9 Adidas sneakers are on every fashionista’s feet this year, and thanks to Nordstrom this dope Stan Smith pair is on sale. You can look on-trend while exploring the Colosseum, but still have the most comfortable feet when climbing all those steps.

Stylish sneaks:

#10 While the Lonchamp is my favorite carry-on bag and I can go full Mary Poppins and stuff a small army in there, I always pack a smaller cross-body bag to use when I arrive to my destination. I want enough room for the essentials but don’t want to be weighed down when touring all day. This leopard Vince Camuto bag is perfectly compact but adds the right pop of sassiness with its leopard print.

#11 Last, but certainly not least, I found the most luxurious neck pillow to enhance your typically awful in-flight experience. It’s made of cozy faux fur and filled with lavender to help lull you off to sleep. Let’s be real, it’s not going to end turbulence or hush that crying baby, so pair with some ZQuil or Melatonin and you’re all set!

Happy shopping and happy travels, friends! I’m off to scratch some things off my Summer Bucket list! What are you up to this weekend?

Look for Less: Self Portrait White Lace Azalea Dress

Give me this dress, a flight to Greece and a glass of rose – and I’m all set!

If you’ve been to any summer wedding or read any fashion blog this season, chances are you’ve glimpsed this oh so lovely Self Portrait dress.  Lacy, feminine and unique, I think it’s the perfect pretty party dress for any summer occasion. Something not so pretty? The $480 price tag.

miranda kerr white lace self portrait dress

Miranda Kerr is a fan. Miranda also has supermodel/Orlando Bloom divorce money, so $480 probably doesn’t set her back like us peasants.

Surprisingly, there aren’t too many dupes currently available for this design. Determined to save money and find a bargain, I put my years of online shopping/sleuthing experience to the test. Finally, the angels at Bloomingdale’s heard my prayers and sent me a Sunday blessing with a gorgeous look for less:

aqua lace empire midi dress - self portrait dupe

Buy here.

Brought to you by in-house Bloomingdale’s brand, Aqua, you can look very Self Portrait esque without the price tag. Sidenote – this brand Aqua has so many cute dresses right now – definitely check them out. Thanks to the neckline details, I almost love the look for less more than the original. If you’re headed to a bridal shower or wedding and don’t want to commit a serious faux pas, the dress also comes in pink and black.

Happy Sunday and happy shopping!

Fourth of July Outfits

Happy (almost) Fourth of July, internet friends! My ideal 4th involves heaps of BBQ, a summer cocktail preferably of the mojito variety, the most obnoxious patriotic music (Freebird is necessary), and a food coma/hungover viewing of 1776 the following morning. Any other musical/history nerds out there? It’s basically the original Hamilton.

No matter where I end up viewing the fireworks, I know I’ll relish the opportunity for holiday dressing. Fashion is all about embodying a character for me, so I’m hyped for even more themed dressing – which I wholeheartedly embrace. I thought I’d share three looks, all appropriately patriotic (without going overboard a la an American flag shirt) and perfect for any occasion.

free people off the shoulder embroidered top

Watching the Fireworks in the Grass – cute and casual, and very comfortable

Embroidered off the shoulder top // shorts // bag // sandals

Polka Dot off the Shoulder Top

BBQ and Drinks with Friends – a little more fashion forward and dressed up. Obsessed with this Zara shirt.

Off the shoulder top (Zara – similar) // Shorts // Sandals // Bag // Bandana

Red Madewell Eyelet Dress for Summer

Ticketed soiree – think watching the fireworks from a swanky rooftop downtown. This dress is also just so easy and pretty for any summer party.

Dress // shoes // bag // sunglasses

How will you be celebrating America’s birthday? Will you be going full on Uncle Sam? Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your long weekend!
